What to Expect as an Applicant

An applicant is someone who has applied for a job in public safety and has been selected by an agency to move forward with a Pre-Employment Psychological Evaluation. This evaluation is always scheduled by the agency, never by the applicant. If you have questions regarding this process please reach out to your agency before calling the office.

Prior to your appointment:

  • Read through the candidate letter outlining our office procedures provided by your agency

  • Applicants are typically in our office for 4-6 hours, which can include a lengthy break period between testing and interview, so make sure to plan your day accordingly

  •  You may bring drinks that have a lid into the testing room, any food or open containers must be left in your car or outside of the testing room. Snacks are allowed, however they must be consumed outside of the testing room.

  • Make sure you have your ID/Driver's License available. If you do not have either of these, a passport or different document with your name and photo will suffice.

During your appointment:

  • We will ask that any smart devices you bring into the office be turned off and placed into a basket prior to beginning the testing process

  • For a Pre-Employment Psychological Evaluation you will take 4 tests (typically lasting about 3-4 hours) and then you will have a short interview with Dr. Roland (typically 30 minutes to an hour)

  • There are no breaks between tests unless you need to use the restroom or have a quick snack

  • Pens and paper will be provided for you, there is no need to bring your own

  • We do not require you to bring any documents other than an ID, all documents we require have already been provided to us by the agency you are applying for prior to your appointment

After your appointment:

  • Dr. Roland will send her report directly to the agency you are applying to. Applicants will not be provided with any results from the evaluation. Any questions you have regarding your results should be brought to your agency, as they will make the final hiring decision.

  • Dr. Roland and staff will not discuss disqualifications with any applicants. Any issues you have should be brought to your agency. We will not give reasons, information, or advice regarding the evaluation process.
